The Story of Skål
"Legend has it that the word ‘skål’ was born when Viking warriors routinely drank from the skulls of their enemies, but a more likely explanation is that it is derived from the word for ‘bowl’, as such a vessel containing a hearty drink would customarily be passed around at gatherings between friends."
Welcome to Skål! We chose the Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish word for ‘cheers’ to be the name of our new eatery because it evokes the joy of getting together with friends to eat, drink, and be merry. This new addition to Cape Town’s food scene could comfortably be categorised as a dive bar serving uncomplicated yet tasty food like burgers, hot dogs, ribs, wings, and poppers. So raise your goblets in cheer: SKÅL!
"I was there with my wife for a date night last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The vibe is excellent, great alternative tunes pumping on the speakers, fantastic decor and really great staff. Last night there was a live act that made it extra special."
"Great ambience! Had quick breakfast and was blown away by food, service and prices."
"Great little gem in brackenfell! Huge tasty & flavourful burgers and great value for money. The Skal burger has a steak patty that is just too good. Definitely worth checking it out if you're in the area!"
